I'm trying to get eVC and eVC4 working on my main Win2K box. (Everything works fine on another machine).
The IDEs each start properly. However, when I open any workspace, I get the following:
eVC4: Instruction at "0x780104ac" referenced memory at "0x0000000". Opening the debugger gets "Unhandled exception in Evc.exe (MSVCRT.DLL): 0xC0000005: Access Violation"
eVC3:Instruction at "0x510b2daa" referenced memory "0x00000004". Opening the debugger gets "UNhandled exception in EVC.EXE (DEVBLD,PKG): 0xC0000005: Access Violation".
I tried doing a fresh install of eVC3, eVC4 SP4 and all the SDKs. When that did not help, I did a reinstall of VC6 SP5 as well. It made no difference.

Hi, is there likely to be any progress on this. I can't use EVC at all which is basically stopping any work.

Just answering for a record. I had the same problem and solved it by localized the issue in Platform Manager - I've noticed that this error was caused by incorrect name in:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows CE Tools\Platform Manager\{F384D888-F9AA-11D1-BB9E-00A0C9C9CCEE}
Make sure that none of the keys have not empty "(default)" values. If one of them has - just delete it (don't forget to backup it before).

Good suggestion!
I found two suspect keys. A blank one, installed by ASprite CE, and one for an SDK that is no longer installed. I deleted both.
I can now open projects in eVC3 and eVC4. Hooray!
