My only way to connect is USB, i don't have Ethernet port.
i'm trying to connect using Activesync/USB
i can connect using VS2003 to my Hardware
and i can connect from VS2005 to HP iPaq 4700 and another Custom board which is PXA255 and Win CE 4.2 .NET using only Activesync and USB port.

    1. I'm Using Activesync Ver 4
    2. i was just testing the connection, i was not planneing to use WinCE 4 as my target.

i need to connect to my custom hardware which runs WinCE 5.

    Thanks

Please post the exact setup of your system including what you have tried.

Before doing that, see the steps here for connecting to custom windows CE 5.0 devices:

The good news is we are getting there; "there" being understanding your setup:

You have VS.NET 2003 and VS2005 Beta 2 on the same machine with Active Sync 4.0, correct

From both IDEs, you can connect fine over activesync to a PPC and a WinCE 4.2 device, right

You have custom WinCE 5.0 hardware that has no ethernet connectivity. You can connect to that via USB with VS2003. Your problem is, you cannot connect to it with VS2005, can you

Assuming all of the above is right, the bad news is that sorry I have no more ideas. Now that the problem is clearly described, I am sure a msfty will be able to help you (probably asking more questions about your CE 5.0 OS setup).

    Cheers

    Hi Ehab,

There is an issue with VS 2005 Beta in connecting to WinCE5.0 devices over ActiveSync.  This has something to do with correctly mapping the CPU while bootstrapping a device over ActiveSync.  Later this bug was fixed.  So please use released VS 2005 to connect to your device.

    thanks

Here are two facts that I hope will help:

    1. To connect via activesync, you need to use the developer preview of activesync v4.0

    2. You cannot use CF 2.0 with custom devices prior to CE 5.0 or WM2003. In other words it will not work wth CE 4.2

    Cheers
