Hi all,
i've just installed the .net framework 2.0 and the compact portion
but cannot create any smart device projects that reference the 2.0
framework.
is there something i am missing
I've reviewed as much documentation as i can but nothing says that
visual studio 2003 is not supported.

Regarding .net CF2.0 and visual studio 2003
Miguel Angel Sánchez
yes, but that's not actually what was asked.
VS2003 can only be used to develop cf 1.0 apps (on ppc2003)
VS2005 can be used to develop cf 1.0 & cf 2.0 apps (on ppc2003 or WM5.0)

You need Visual Studio 2005 to develop for NETCF V2, VS 2003 only works with NETCF V1. Same is true for desktop:
VS 2002 aNET 1.0
VS 2003-> NET 1.1
VS 2003-> NET 2.0
You can, however, install NETCF V2 on to your device (assuming it's supported) and run existing NETCF V1 application against NETCF V2:

Thanks all for your replies here.
This is not spelt out anywhere on the .net 2.0 download or
documentation that i could find.
i am a little pissed that my VS2003 copy which has barely been used
is not rendered defunct and obsolete 6 months after it was purchased
