Barry, not working after "Clear save state". In fact, not working at all for any emulator image. Plus I installed emulators for other languages, and emulator manager won't seen them at all.

    Hi!

I recieced the same errormessage. I've installed VS, WM 5.0 and localized images new - but the problem still remains.

Did PSS help What did they say

I haven't seen this error code before... it decodes as Win32 ERROR_BAD_CONFIGURATION, and I don't see any place in VS or the emulator where that message is reported.

Can you try using the Device Emulator Manager to launch the WM 5.0 PPC emulator and see what happens If it fails, try right-clicking on the entry and selecting "Clear Save State".

Renaming corecon worked for me too!!!! Thank you SOOOOOO much for this suggestion. By the way, this can happen when you install Windows CE 6.0 Platform Builder into a Windows CE 5.0 or WinMo 5.0 machine. Microsoft says don't do that, but I didn't know any better. You've saved me from months of frustration. Smile

    Hi,

I have the same problem. But I am not able to fix it.I renamed the folder corecon to some"xcorecon" and again renamed to corecon. But I am not able to fix it.

I renamed the folder corecon and tried connecting to the emulator. But again I was getting the same error.I again renamed it back to the original name and tried connecting it.It didnt work.Help me out:(

I think you should exit your device emulator manager first. Because it will load these configuration files when you open it.

so exit the device emulator manager first, rename the folder, open the device emulator manager again then exit once more and rename the folder as origine , CoreCon. Now the device emulator manager can work again.

    I had exact same problem.

Your solution fixed my machine also.

    THANK YOU, THANK YOU!!!

Yes, respect! That worked.. one little thing: the path i used was:

    "Documents and Settings\All Users\Application Data\Microsoft\CoreCon"

    Thanx, Axel

I'm sorry, but I'm basically out of alternatives. If you have time and patience, try uninstalling the WM 5.0 localized images, SDK, and Visual Studio. Then make sure that "c:\documents and settings\all users\application data\microsoft\corecon" and "c:\documents and settings\yourname\local settings\application data\microsoft\corecon" are either empty or non-existent. Then reinstall VS and the WM 5.0 and try again.

If that doesn't work, then the next course of action is to contact Product Support Services (PSS).

    Hi!

After having installed new, I've had the same problem.

    Now I've found a solution:

I've renaimed the Folder "Documents and Settings\Application Data\Microsoft\CoreCon" to "xCoreCon", started the Device Emulator (he was empty), terminated the Device Emulator and rerenamed "xCoreCon" to "CoreCon".Now the Emulator works properly.
