Is my pocket pc to old

Hi, so i finally finish my program and i am filled with pride in my achievement. I have created it on the pocket pc 2003 emulator that comes in visual studio 2005 and uses cf2.

When i connect my pocket pc to the development machine and build my program for a pocket pc 2003 device i get this error message.

Error 1 The specified program requires a newer version of Windows on the device.

Is it possible to upgrade my pocket pc. Toshiba no longer sells this model! but that does not mean that the version of windows being run cannot be updated or does it

I am a rank beginner ( as i am sure shows) but i was really looking forward to running my program on my hand held mobile device. I now feel crushed and defeated, any help or advice would be welcome.

You can only upgrade if it is supported by thoshiba, so you will have to ask them for an update.

    • Supported Device Operating Systems: Windows Mobile Software for Pocket PC 2003, Windows Mobile 5.0 for PocketPC and Smartphone, Windows CE .NET 5.0 and higher.

I assume your device is a PocketPC2003 device If so, you won't have a problem. I think the message you saw is simply a warning. Ignore itThe other possiblilty is that the app you created is for a WindowsMobile5.0 device, not PPC2003

This is a link to the Support Matrix. It'll should give you a good idea of what devices are supported with the compilers:
