I'm probably doing something very stupid but I'd appreciate any assistance.
I am trying to get up to speed on Windows Mobile 5.0 development and I have installed (in this order):
Visual Studio 2005 Team Suite Beta 2
DMA Transport Update
Windows Mobile 5.0 SDKs for Pocket PC and Smartphone
When I try to create a new project, I only see Pocket PC 2003, Smartphone 2003 and Windows CE 5.0 but no reference to Windows Mobile 5.0 (or Magneto as I believe I should see). Also, when I try to deploy a simple app to an emulator, I don't get any Windows Mobile 5.0 options.
I have tried the installation on a corporate laptop with XP Pro SP2. I note that the installation notes advise the disabling of Anti-virus software. We use Symantec and disabling would be in breach of our security policy and I didn't do it. Is this likely to be the problem. I can plead the case for disabling the AV if I need to.
Has anyone come across this before or got any suggestions
Thanks,
Tom

hai tom,
can you tell how you clear your problem. i am also working in windows mobile 5.0. and i am in the position of installing xp service pack 2.0 and vs2005. is there anything without installing serivce pack. because this will overcome the security policy i think, as you said also. what is the solution for this.
and i am working in the emulator from which i want to get the something from the external device like barcode scanners and all. can you have any idea , how we connect the emulator with the barcode scanners. i am not using the real pocket Pc now, only using emulator image.
thanks

When I reinstalled leaving with the Default installation path, everything was fine.
Thanks to David in MS for pointing this out.
