I'm trying to write some CE 5.0 code for the Imate Jasjar. When I build and deploy the application using VS 2005 Beta 2 it goes into the device OK but then fails becase the version of the Compact Framework on the Jasjar is too old. I assume this is becuase the Jasjar only has version 1.0 built in to the firmware. Is there any way around this, or do I have to wait for a firmware upgrade

Most likely that's because your JasJar does not have test certificate NETCF Beta 2 CAB is signed with. Thus NETCF V2 installation silently fails for security reasons. You can try installing NETCF V2 CAB manually answering "yes" to security prompt.
