Do you know how we can configure the emulator smartphone wce5 in visual studio 2005 so the emulator can connect internet using IE

    • Thank you Carl for the Guide
    •  It would be also good to add the following
      Don't select a fixed IP Adresse when using Active Sync
      not on the Emulator Device (Setting the NE2000 Card to an fixed IP) and also not in the Device Settings.
      I have done this because with these settings it works fine if you use the TCP  Connection!

    • Some tipps for troubleshouting:
    1. Check the IP Address of you device
      through Start->Settings->Connections->Network Cards->NE2000....
      it should be Server Assigned and it should have valid IP adress there
    2. try pinging the IP from the PC -> if it works, everything else should also work!
    3. if you still have problems install the vxUtil on you rdevice (it works with the new emulator)
      with this you can try pinging the Host PC and other  IPAddresse also you can use traceroute and some other tools. By the way, this tool is a MUST if
      you do something with Pocket PC and the Internet ;-)

    Carl,

    Thank you very much for your effort. However on my on my AS on the connection dialog when I select "Allow connections to one of the following" the combo box to select DMA stays disabled and I'm unable to change any value. The dimmed value is COM1.

    I would really appreciate if you could help me with this.

    The easiest way is to cradle the emulator so that it connects through ActiveSync 4.0. IE should be able to access the internet then

    Now i miss another problem.

    I have a connection internet which stand after a proxy:
    example: proxy.test.org:3128. Then i use router to create
    a new LAN with DHCP.

    I tried to configure like in your blog but from my emulator, i can not connect
    to internet.

    I am sure that emualtor using DMA and had a IP adress.

    Many thank for your help.
