Hi! Sorry, title maybe misleading....
Basically in the UK the next version of the smartphone (SPV) is C600 (after the successor C500) and it will be launching at the end of the month
now, I know it has WM5 (hurray!!) BUT would like to know, if anyone knows (esp the MSFT guys)... will it have .NET CF 2.0
I know it was in beta etc... for the past few months but now for MSDN subscribers VS.NET 2005 has been officially launched but the official launch will be next week and will ship in December
Question is - will WM5 have .NET CF 2.0 If not, then I guess the only way you can have .NET CF 2.0 is on the other smartdevices (M500 etc... )

the SMT5600/C500 only has WM2003 .NET 1.1SP3 and cannot be "upgraded" to .NET 2.0
I am getting the C600 at the end of this month hopefully and I should be able to install .NET CF 2.0 on that one, since it has WM5

oh really Well, how can I do this I have VS.NET 2005 (MSDN) installed....
I have a C500 which has .NET 1.0 sp3 on ROM and WM2003
I copied the cab files from this location:
C:\program Files\Microsoft Visual Studio 8\SmartDevices\SDK\CompactFramework\2.0\v2.0\WindowsCE\wce500\armv4i
to my 512MB SD Storage card on the phone. it has 400MB free and the CF 2.0 requires something like 5MB but it says it is unable to install on the storage card! (Same applies to the phone) the SD Card is writable.

I’m a bit confused with SMT6000/C500… That’s new WM 5.0 based SmartPhone, right If so, NETCF V2 is supported on it.< xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />
As to WM 2003, NETCF V2 only supports PocketPC 2003. SmartPhone 2003 is not supported because it's not possible to permanently replace files in \Windows on SP 2003 and NETCF won't work without that.
For WM 5.0 devices both SP and PPC editions are fully supported.

All current WM 5.0 devices are shipped with NETCF V1 SP3 in ROM, NETCF V2 can be installed on these devices. It will be in ROM eventually, but it's a matter of months. To estimate the time frame, consider time passed between WM 5.0 RTM and first WM 5.0 device shipped...
