Hi there.
I have considerable background in Visual dBase Plus which is an OO language with considerable means to create forms, tables and some windows applications but it is hard to do any networking. Thus I am trying to migrate to C#. I do have a Visual Studio .NET 2003 Pro and downloaded Visual C# 2005 Express Edition Beta 2. I have created some forms and added some functionality. Now I need to create tables and I need a table designer which I found to be a part of SQL server. It appears I have downloaded SQL Server but it is not working for some reason and I have to find out why.
My question is: shall I just purchase a FoxPro 9 package in addition to what I've got already It is about $650 at MS. It will definitely give me a lot of options I think.
Won't it be an overkill Can I accomplish everything I need with what I've got already
As a prior purchaser of Visual Studio .NET 2003 will I qualify for an upgrade on Visual FoxPro which is about half the price
Thanks.

shall I purchase Visual Fox Pro 9 ?

I do have MSDN Professional but not Enterprise. I am getting DVDs with SQL Server 2005 Beta versions and this is where I installed it from. So far it refused to work but I will analyze why and perhaps reinstall it.
Since you seem to be knowledgeable in the matter I have another question.
What is the advantage of having FoxPro in some abstract sense What additional capabilities would I get should I decide to acquire it. I am just curious. I am having a self imposed crash course of studying the whole MSDN and ASP.NET business -- I need it badly, so your reply will help.
Thanks.

If you are not needing to purchase any additional software, download and install SQL Server 2005 Express as well as the Express Manager from http://lab.msdn.microsoft.com/express/sql/. Use the Express Manager for your database development.
This is a technology preview version. The final version release is scheduled for November (I think) and will be free.

You saved me 650 bucks at least and perhaps more.
MS has sent so many DVDs to me lately that I've lost track of many of them.
Thanks again.
