Scenario
Lets say that Avalon is released for XP (and in Longhorn) on time, Holiday season 2006,
and that it is accepted as “wonderful” like we all know it will be.
Question:
How rapidly will it make its way onto the corporate desktop What percentage of corporate desktop machine will have Avalon install one year later, two years Are there any moderately reliable figure that we can use in our sales projections
Anything will be helpful
Thank you

Hi Frank, everyone.
You're right Frank and we don't even know what the requirements are yet!
There isn't enough information available to make these decisions logically. In our particular case there are a couple things that make developing entirely for the new platform seem to be the right choice.
The product is computer based training, the topic is troubleshooting. It takes place in a simulated mechanical/electrical environment. The effectiveness skyrockets when we use 3D. The rub is that most IT department will not put Direct-X on the corporate machines just to help train some engineers! We feel Avalon is are best chance to get the 3-D on the desk-tops of corporate America and this particular product idea will not fly without it.
We would work best if the total units sold and therefore supported would ramped up rather slowly.
What do you think

You have to think about performance and hardware requirements as well.

I think WinFX/Longhorn is going to put .NET on-the-map in a real way.
Right or wrong.....
I'm going for it.

Hi Villiescu,
OK, that puts longhorn way up on top of my list of "good stuff", but will WinFX for the XP machines require the framework for it to run I hope it does because the excitement of Avalon may be enough to get people to install the framework.
Our first title in our next project has a tentative release date July 2007 with one following each year for five years. It would be so much cheaper if we could just concentrate our efforts on .net and Avalon.
Make it fun,

Is this correct
The framework will be require if you are going to run Avalon or longhorn.
I'm getting a little worried here!
