how long does it take to get the MSDN subscription? with Empower .. and does it include Sourcesafe

Hi All,

We have signed up to Empower and received our DVD pack but I can not see any information regarding MSDN subscription , this is critical to us, we must have signed up nearly 3 weeks ago now. I also phoned and was told it was going to take about a week.
< xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

Dos anyone know how long we are going to have to wait for the MSDN subscription

I have emailed LatamISV@microsoft.com
and am waiting for a response but wondered if anyone else has ordered lately.

Oh and do we get Sourcesafe with empower

Thanks in advance

Lee

Thanks for that, but I already tried it. I suspect that Microsoft take a while to activate the account at their end, and this is why I have not been able to access it yet. I tried the company Id, and entered all my other details and it still tells me to:

Please enter valid values for subscription

Oh well - I guess I'll just have to wait.

    Hi all,

It was my fault initially, I could get the subscription I just hadn’t gone to MSDN subscriptions and entered my Partner ID. I now have access, so subscription was activated as son as I had received the pack.< xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office" />

We signed up last week, and received the MSDN pack really quickly. Now, I would have thought that the subscription would have come through with this - the blurb in the packaging tells you to go to msdn.microsoft.com/subscriptions/ and when I tried to log in, I crashed and burned.

I don't know why MS thinks that the professional edition will be ideal for ISV's. Surely, we need the features that the other users get if they upgrade their copies of MSDN Universal.

    Hi Lee,

We have signed up to Empower one month ago and received our DVD pack but I did not yet get any information regarding the MSDN subscription, too.

I did not yet contact MSDN.

Regarding Visual SourceSafe, the latest information I've seen from a Microsoft employee is that Empower subscriptions will get MSDN Premium with Visual Studio 2005 Professional (no team editions). MSDN Premium includes VSS 2005.

However, there have been told so many different things about Empower MSDN transitions, that you can't be sure without an offical answer from your local reps.

I just found the answer regarding MSDN subscription with Empower and successfully registered our subscription.

Go to http://msdn.microsoft.com/subscriptions and look for the MSDN Registration page where you can "Add new subscription" or "associate a subscription to a passport".

Enter First Name, Last Name and Email Address into the appropriate fields. Enter your Partner ID into the field with the Benefit Access Number.

If you don't know your partner id, login to http://partner.microsoft.com using your Passport ID. The partner id is the number listet together with your Organization. For MSDN just use that number (without the letters ID).

If you cant find the MSDN registration page (maybe because you already have registred another subscription) try the following link and login with your Passport:
    https://msdn.microsoft.com/subscriptions/account/AddSubscription.aspx

    I hope that helps!

P.S. I already had another subscription. In this case the "Add new subscription" link is near the bottom of the page and usually hidden if you don't scroll down that far. That's why I've never got to the AddSubscription page and never come to the idea to use the Partner ID instead the usual Subscription ID.
