I'm trying to install BSM 2005 into a Win/2003 Server running SQL Server 2005 (everything) and the Web Service won't install because it reports the following:
Failed Microsoft OLE DB Provider for OLAP Service (MSOLAP) 2000 SP4 (8.00.2039)
as well, the Alerts won't install because of the message:
Failed Microsoft SQL Server 200 Notification Services 2.0 SP1 Engine Components
I understood that this version was compatible with SQL 2005. Any idea how to bypass these checks and install the software properly

When installing Business Scorecard Manager 2005 server, I had the following Failed messages:NET 8.0
--Failed Windows SharePoint services 2.0 or Microsoft SharePoint portal server 2003
--Failed Microsoft SharePoint extended site
--Failed Microsoft OLE DB Provider for OLAP Services (MSOLAP) 2000 SP4 (8.00.2039)
--Failed Microsoft ADOMD.< xml:namespace prefix = st1 ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags" />
--Failed Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Notification Services 2.0 SP1 with Engine Components
and SQL XML 2.0(SP3)
I have installed the following files from Microsoft downloads to get the Business Scorecard Manager 2005 working:
--SQL Server 2000 Notification Services, Enterprise Edition 2.0 SP1
--Windows SharePoint Services with Service Pack 2
--SqlXml 3.0 Service Pack 3
--ptssetup.exe
--SQL Server 2000 Desktop Engine (MSDE) Components
I am still getting the following message when installing Business Scorecard manager 2005 server:
--Failed Microsoft OLE DB Provider for OLAP Services (MSOLAP) 2000 SP4 (8.00.2039)
When I run ptssetup.exe, I get the message:
--PivotTable Services 8.0 and MDAC are installed on this workstation.
Do you know what I need to install or configure to make Microsoft Business Scorecard Manager 2005 Server install

You must install the AS/2000 piviot table services (PTSLite) in order for the installer to proceed even if you're not planning on using this feature. Hopefully, the installer will be updated before general release.
I've received a report from Microsoft that SQL Server 2005 NS isn't supported yet. At this point, I've skipped the installation of the Alert capability. Hopefully a fix or other work around if forth coming.
Important: The Sharepoint publish seems to expect Intergrated Authentication to be turned on. (Basic doesn't work.) I'll be working to try to figure out what authentication schemes are currently supported.

I do still have this problem, but I followed the installation requirements meticulously. I installed SP4 very early on.
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 - 8.00.2039 (Intel X86)
May 3 2005 23:18:38
Copyright (c) 1988-2003 Microsoft Corporation
Enterprise Edition on Windows NT 5.2 (Build 3790: Service Pack 1)
I cannot run the script in PTSSETUP.htm, because of:
Severe
---------------------------
Setup cannot continue because the parent product, Analysis Services, is already installed.
---------------------------
OK
---------------------------
and yet, the Scorecard Manger setup complains about:
Failed Microsoft OLE DB Provider for OLAP Services (MSOLAP) 2000 SP4 (8.00.2039)
I am obviously installing on SQL 2000.

There were some other questions around the BSM installation on the forums. Does the information on this post help resolve your issue

Not sure what web service you're refering too, unless it's the BSM web service. In that case, definately check the PSLite version (and/or try installing the full version).
