I need help figuring out what is crashing my VBA for Access 2003

Access VBA keeps crashing on me... I know why, but can't figure out the cause.

I go into code view... and type something like "Me" then when I type the '.' which should bring up the list of possible options... it crashes VBA... this only happens in access, I can open up excel and do the same thing and it works fine.

I've tried re-installing but it still occurs.

Can anyone provide me with some insight

Thanks,

B

It only happens on my home pc, running Windows XP. Work pc (also XP) works fine, so I'm guessing that this is an "individual phenomenon."

When I hit the "." I get the pop-up box that says:

"Microsoft Office Access has encountered a problem and needs to close. We are sorry for the inconvenience." And prompts to send an error report, which I did a couple of times... does anyone really look at those ;)

There are no add-ins or plugins running that I know of, if you tell me where to look I can check.

I discovered it only occurs if the Auto List Members option is enabled from the Tools>>Options>>Editor Tab. So, for now, I'll just disable that option to work around the problem. If you have any suggested fixes I'll give them a try.

    Thanks for your help,

    B

    Hi

Thanks for the information. Exactly the same thing happens on my Access 2003 SP2 system, and your remedy allows me to get on with my project. I wonder if there is a fix for this problem - which I thought would be widespread

    Per the support engineer:

Please help to forward following questions to this partner:

I’ve tried your operation in Access 2003, however, on either Windows 2003 or Windows XP I can not re-produce the crash behavior you mentioned. There is such no record that indicates such a simple input will crash Access 2003, so I’m wondering whether you have installed some 3rd party applications or plug-ins on certain PC Or could you please take a look whether the behavior also occurs on other machine that also installed Access 2003 to see whether it is an individual phenomenon.
