I guess I'm confused here. Renee acted as though there was a VS Express but all there is, is the individual Express products and there's not a VB 2005 version, just an Express. Or I'm just missing things.
No, you can't get VB on it's own, it's now tightly integrated into Visual Studio.
There are standard and Pro editions available, and there's an upgrade path for prior registered owners of any of the VS tools. You may also need the MS Office extentions if you're going to develop any Office solutions using the Dot Net framework instead of VBA automations.
I made a mistake. I said VS express when I meant to say VB express.
But there is definitely a downloadable VB express. I've had it on my system. Standalone VB Express 2005.
I didn't used to like DOT NET at all. I didn't like post VB6 IDEs. But when I saw VB Express, I fell in love with it. I'm very discerning and very picky and I love the VS2005 products.
I just looked, again. I didn't see anything in the way of a Standard edition. There hasn't been a pro edition since VB6 (So I'm told) So basically the answer is no.
But you can still get just VB by way of an express version.

Most of this has been answered by others, but I thought I'd summarize some links for you.
Technically, there is no VS Express. There are the VS Express Editions which are standalone editions of each development environment.
I hope this helps.

I'm hoping there's at least a VB 2005 Standard, combining the
WebForms and WinForms in one package the way my VB 2003 did.
And I hope it has reporting capabilities!!!
I cannot believe Express doesn't come with any way to generate reports.
At least I hope someone fills the reporting gap with something that doesn't cost an arm and a leg.
