Strange problem with mouse scrolling in Visual Studio 6

I've just started working with VS6 where the task is correcting parts of a large existing code.

The problem is that i can't scroll up or down in code windows, so I'm wasting lots of time with the scroll bar.

I'm using a normal Dell PS2 mouse - which works fine in other applications such Explorer fx.
I've tried installing new driver to the mouse, but no.

Is it because the VS6 platform i old (there has been about 5 service packs to it), and is not intended til be used with a scroll wheel or what

Tnx to anyone who can help

Amit

Wait till you use VirtualPC 5.1 and find out that the 2 lock up the clipboard :p Eventually after a few years of using the IDE you get used to it :p You might also peruse google to see if anybody else has any plugins that can be added to fix the problem.

I'm really sorry but these fora are for dot net. VB6 users are requested to find resources that would be more helpful than we will be here.

There were numerous problems with the Visual Studio package. Make sure that you are using the latest service pack which is SP6 i believe. From my memory the scroll wheel works fine in VC++ 6 and Visual Interdev 6 but will never work in VB6.I know it did not work in sp5 and I severely doubt they bothered to fix anything important when pushing sp6.

I was using a Dell Latitude D550 laptop with VB6 and I had no mouse scrolling problems to speak of; everything worked. I recently moved to a Dell Latitude D610 and I can't scroll anything in VB6.

I've installed the same Intellipoint 5.2 mouse driver and I tried Intellipoint 5.5 with no results. I've investagated nearly every aspect of this and I can only arrive that it's a hardware issue with the Dell laptop.

After being able to scroll in the development environment, the to lose that ability, is a serious productivity issue.

I'm preaty sure i've heard of a plugin being mentioned last week by a colleague that won't be present the next three weeks. I'll ask him when he comes back.

I'll keep updating, i'm sure others alsa struggle with it.

You are right, I have SP5 installed and it doesn't work.
I'll try to find and install SP6 - maybe I'll get lucky :)

    Thanks MarkD
