First off I think this is the wrong forum but I could not find the correct one, any help with putting it in the right after you read this would be greatly appreciated.
I am working with Office XP and Visio 2000. I want to create a VB Macro in Excel that will do the following: Open a new instance of Visio (using CreateObject), create a document, add a sheet, and add shapes (mainly rectangles) from height and width values from the Excel sheet.
I've been searching for various VB related articles online but I can't find enough information in any one place to get me past opening a new instance of Visio 2000. I've successfully used VBA in Visio 2000 to create a macro that opens an Excel sheet and reads values but due to various reasons it is impractical and better to do it from Excel.
Any help in finding the proper resources for accomplishing this goal is greatly appreciated.
Thanks,
Andrew N.

VB with Excel and Visio

Andrew,
If you are still reading this forum, I would be very interested in looking at your VB to access Excel from Visio. I am trying to build a number of circles based on data in an Excel Spreadsheet. In simple terms, I have a set of data in rows and columns which describes process equipment ( circles ), I want Visio to read the data in Excel and add circles which have the diameter in the spreadsheet and the name ( for example T1, T2, C1,C2 ) which is an entry in the spreadsheet.
I would be interested in why you thought this was impractical.
Thanks for your help!
