I notice a lot of messages and comments in various forums concerning trouble installing refactor! on the express version. I gather that there is something that is causing this problem -- possibly that the product does not work on the express version. Is this correct Is this a problem with the product or a limitation in the express version Does the pro version work in the express edition Seems to me that a well-(better )-publicized clarification would improve the perception this situation is spreading vis a vis product quality and support and limit the amount of frustration that it seems to be brewing.
We (Developer Express) have 2 refactoring products, Refactor! for Visual Basic .NET 2005, and Refactor! Pro for Visual Studio.
Both were announced on the 21st. Refactor! for VB 2005 works exclusively with Visual Basic .NET in Visual Studio 2005.
Refactor! Pro is fully functional in VS2002, VS2003, and VS2005. It also includes C# language support, an options Dialog for completely customizing it's behavior, and an extensibility API so you can write your own refactorings using any managed language.
Refactor! Pro is available for $99, and also now comes bundled with CodeRush for Visual Studio for $249.99.
