The following web site will provide you with some of the different characters and there meaning allowing you to customize the date/time for you exact purposes.

    http://www.riderdesign.com/articles/displayarticle.aspx articleid=5

The microsoft URL dealing with this is as follows

    http://msdn.microsoft.com/library/default.asp url=/library/en-us/cpguide/html/cpconcustomdatetimeformatstrings.asp

To get specific date formating to produce a string

    Dim s as string = Format(Date.Now, "dd-MM-yyyy HH:mm:ss")
    dim s as string = Now.ToString("dd-MM-yyyy HH:mm:ss")

The link provides details on custom formatting but you may want to use one of the predefined formats.

Case sensitivity is important on these strings as as you will see MM is months whereas mm is minutes.

You can use the Format function:

    Dim d As Date = #6/2/2006#

    MsgBox(Format(d, "MM/dd/yyyy"))

The two M's and two d's force it to show two digits. M is capitalized because lower-case m means minutes.

    Hope that helps,
