  Win XP & MSIE 6 - the same problem. Resetting Web Settings and configuring the search using Customize button at the "search" panel doesn't work... After I typing something like "adfdf" in the address bar, it converts to http:/// %20adfdf.... How to return the address bar search ability

  Did you get an answer or a fix for this   I am having the same problem.  I have other users on this computer and XP the are not having the same issues.  Any help would be appreciated.

  Would you mind trying the instructions listed below. Start with option 1. Option 3 i believe is for Win98/W2k
