windowclosing event does not fire with the WebBrowser control in c# 2.0

Hello everyone

When implementing the DWebBrowserEvents2 interface on a class that inherited from the System.Windows.Forms.WebBrowser control, the WindowClosing event does not fire, when a javascript calls "window.close()". In stead of that I get the default dialog box that asks "Do you wish to close this window "

The mayor problem is, if the user clicks "yes", the WebBrowser control simply hangs.

Other events like "BeforeNavigate" and "NewWindow3" do work correctly.

Does anybody know of a workaround I've seen some workarounds for .Net 1.1 but I cannot get them to work in .Net 2.0

Any help would be very much appreciated.

It looks like this is a good workaround. I'll give it a try.

If anyone else knows another way to get the real WindowClosing event, that would be great :) But fot the time being, this will do.

Sorry, I don't have the answer. I HAVE noticed that not only is the windowclosing event not fired from DWebBrowserEvents2 but the control on the form 'hangs' after the window.close method is called from script.

I'm not sure if it has anything to do with using the WebBrowserSite class but since I can't find a decent example of how this class is used and what exactly it will provide I can't be sure if this is the issue or it is simply a bug.

I'd be interested to know what the solution is since I have attempted to implement the webbrowser control (both in it's activex and .net versions and always seem to fall on operation short of getting it to work reliably).

A full featured article with code showing how the webbrowser can be used to duplicate IE functionality would be nice.

OK, I worked around this by processing the windows messages from a usercontrol inherited from webcontrol. I derived this from http://support.microsoft.com/kb/q253219/

Feel free to slam my workaround, I would rather get the real windowclosing event.
